October

Back to the Calendar images,
This brings us to the month of October, This is probably the most distinct image in the calendar, and the one that garners the most interest from the Navy Pilots. As you have hopefully noticed from the other images, I am all about trying to make the images a work of art and not just capturing the moment in time. I look at other Navy images and just think of what a wasted opportunity they had, there are some amazing pictures out there of navy jets, but then they just leave them alone, they never take them to the next level.
My images i try and create a feeling or an emotion from it. I will do some posts where i show the original image, so you can see just what i've done to make my vision come alive. But for this image i wanted to focus on how bad a*# this jet is, and i think one of the things that helps capture that are the flames from the after burners. So i made those the focus of this image.

Hope you enjoy,

And please feel free to leave comments so i know i have at least the 5 readers i think i have. Hehe.

I'm Semi Famous

At least my online identity is semi famous. On XBOX LIVE my gamertag is HansLabyrinth, which is a combination of Han Solo and the movie Pans Labyrinth, which is a great movie if you haven't seen it, it is a foreign film and you have to read the subtitles but it is an incredible film. Anyway back to my tale, one of the people i play online with is a Famous Photoshop Guru and is quite famous in the Photoshop community, which is why i have the word SEMI, before the word FAMOUS. Well in his blog today i got a mention as one of the reasons he has been delinquent in him performing his blogging duties.

here is the link.

I just thought that was interesting, to 90% of my readers, you won't know who this is, and that basically means that 4 of you won't know who he is, i know my father knows who he is. Since i am assuming i only have about 5 followers.

New Calendar month to follow.

First People Shoot.

So i finally got hired to go and do a people shoot. A little back story. All season i have been going down and shooting some of the kids soccer games and selling them to the parents. At the end of the season one of the mothers from a teammate of Jakes came up to me and asked if i could shoot some pictures of her 2 sons, so of course i said yes. We had planned to play it by ear and let the weather dictate when we were going to do the shoot, so we finally had a forecast of 2 clear days, albeit 40 degrees and clear, but clear none the less. I decided a cool place to shoot would be this bridge where we ride our bike in the summer, all 2 weeks of it. The mom had an idea to dress them in some matching outfits that i think worked out really well. After i had shown her the files, she said she LOVED them and that they were the best pictures she ever had taken of her sons.
It was a great learning experience and also confidence builder.
here are a couple of the pictures. Hope you enjoy them.

Happy Holidays

So i realize this is a day late, but i decided to take the last 2 days completely off from any sitting in front of the computer, and i didn't have any of the images for me to post from the iPhone. So, i apologize. I did get some quality movie going in. I had yet to see Harry Potter, so i saw that, which was decent, and then i saw The Fighter. Christian Bale is Amazing in this movie, I'm calling it right here. AWARD. Then i saw True Grit, also great, classic Coen Brothers.
Alright back to business,

I am going to include the last 2 days plus tomorrow's.
The July image represents the last of the CAG Bird images and we begin the secondary images for each of the squadrons.

May and June

Sorry about missing the post yesterday, i had to drive into Seattle, which is an hour and a half away to check the proofs for the calendar i am producing. So i was out most of the day, then there were a couple of little glitches that needed to be rectified, so as soon as i got home i got to work on fixing what needed to be fixed. But i got it done and all is well.
So i owe you May and June. June is also one of my favorites. Most of the days that i was out shooting i was at ground level, with really no way to elevate myself, but it turned out that the ready room for the squadron was on the second floor and looked out over their Jets, so while i was up there i took the shot. I also think the post processing on it turned out really nice.
Hope you enjoy

Total Eclipse of the Moon

So last night was a rare event indeed, not only was it a Full Lunar Eclipse, but also it occurred on the winter solstice, which hasn't occurred since the early 1600's. And won't occur again until 2094.
It was a little hazy here but i could see it, i even took a couple of pics. This is not one of mine. Hopefully you got out to see it. It is truly a once in a lifetime event.

April

So one of my many followers and a good friend Jason pointed out that on my last post i asked for your favorites and i guess that was a bit premature since you have only seen 3 months, so go ahead and wait till the end then you can chime in with your favorite pics.
This is the CAG Bird for VFA 25 "The fist of the fleet." And if have noticed the CAG jets are all designated with a 00 number. 100, 200, 300 and so on.
And your thoughts on the individual pics are more than welcome.

January Image

This is January,
For those not Familiar with Jets, this is an EA-6B Prowler. The orange device in the shot is know as the Meatball. It is a vital instrument for landing on a Carrier. And this is the squadron that is working with me to get the calendar produced, so i thought it only fitting they get the first month in the calendar.

See you tomorrow

Airwing CVW17 Calendar

So recently i have been working on creating a calendar for an Airwing in the Navy. So i thought every day i would post up a new shot, it's a 15 month Calendar. I will have some for sale as soon as they are done Printing.

The cover needed to be a representation of the 7 different squadrons. And each squadron has one jet that they do a really nice paint job on, so my idea to incorporate all the squadrons was to show their squadron logos from the jets themselves.

I had the Fortune of flying to Fallon Nevada, which is the current home of Top Gun, and before an airwing deploys on a carrier, they go to NAS Fallon to train against the Top Gun pilots.

It was an amazing time and i finally have images ready to show.

Hope you enjoy.

The Cover

Test post from my phone

This was a picture I took in the Caribbean as well. And I happened to have it on my phone. And now I must go to sleep.
Peace.

Welcome to Seven One Studio

Hello Everyone,
And welcome to the Seven One Studio Blog, I am new to the world of Professional Photography and owning and running my own business, so i thought blogging about my experience and building a network of other photo enthusiasts would be a good experience. You will get to know my style of photography through the posts, so welcome and let me know what you think? About anything.

Here is a picture i took in Curacao, I enjoy shooting unexpected things along with the expected, and shooting things that aren't necessarily indicative of the location i'm in. So naturally while in Curacao I sought out the darker side, but tried to bring it around to something beautiful.
